Under the direction, guidance and general supervision of the Sales Manager, the Account Executive is responsible for maintaining contact and building relationships with the health benefits decision makers of employer groups, unions, local government units, and health insurance agents. The Account Executive works diligently to increase Health Plan membership as well as foster a spirit of cooperation between GHC-SCW staff and membership to limit misunderstanding and attrition. The incumbent functions with independence and freedom in decision making as authorized within assigned areas.

JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in marketing, sales, insurance, or health related or communication studies preferred.
2. Minimum of three (3) years of sales/marketing experience required.
3. Must obtain license within six (6) months of employment.
4. Ability to have transportation available.
5. Knowledge of the principles and practices of sales and marketing. A demonstrable capacity to keep abreast of new technology trends.
6. Ability to use and/or learn insurance sales related systems. Accurate data entry skills required.

7. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills including ability to provide telephone support and consultation. Good public speaking skills required.
8. Ability to pay attention to details and to manage multiple tasks. Ability to develop goals and objectives and establish priorities.
9. Good judgment and ability to act decisively at the right time. Ability to think on feet.
10. Professional manner to deal courteously and effectively with staff and with the public required.
11. Effective persuasion and negotiation skills. Ability to thoroughly explain and justify renewal increases.
12. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding company information acquired on the job required. Knowledge of or ability to learn HIPAA requirements.
13. Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds on an occasional basis required.

14. Ability to speak and listen in person and on the phone required. Ability to see mid, near and far range.
15. Ability to work flexible hours as needed required.
16. Ability to travel in the local area on a frequent basis required.
